Drake Toby’s Legacy

We were searching for a hypoallergenic dog for our daughter and came across a couple that were 6 months old. The family was in Albert Lea, so we drove down to see the dogs and one dog came right up to our daughter and that’s the one that came home with us.

Our daughter named him after the Nickelodeon Show “Drake and Josh”.

Drake spent many nights at St Croix Lutheran High School Football games watching our son play football.

With Jim as handler Drake went through many obedience classes and rally classes. He earned his AKC Intermediate Trick, Rally Excellent, CGC, CGCA, and CGCU Titles.

Jim was looking for something to do when he retired in a couple of years and someone said Drake and Jim would make a great therapy dog team. So they took therapy dog classes and became a registered therapy dog team in 2017.

Drake visited many Care Centers, Schools, was a Animal Ambassador at MSP Airport and did many special events.

Drake went through the COVID times which were hard because he loved to be petted, but now he couldn’t.
Eventually we went on to do many parades at Care Centers until we could return to somewhat normal visits.

Drake continued to make visits until he crossed the Rainbow Bridge 🌈 at the young age of 9 from Cancer in 2022.

Drake earned the AKC Therapy Excellence Award for making over 200 visits and meeting thousands of people in his 5 years of Therapy Work.
